I like to keep track on what I did and where I have been to on this journey. And this blog helps me with that. I also use a travel map and it is always a great joy for me to look where we have already been.
The first part of our trip is clear to follow: We started in Indonesia in Java and flew from Bali to mainland Malaysia. From there we started our Myanmar roundtrip and continued to Bangkok which was our only stop in Thailand. We went to Cambodia by bus. Out of Phnom Penh we flew to Manila for a roundtrip on Luzon, the largest island of the Philippines.
From Luzon it becomes a little more complicated. That is why I split the map into two parts. We made a loop for two reasons: Initially we wanted to go directly to Vietnam from Cambodia, because of the main holiday season in Vietnam however we flew to Manila from Phnom Penh. And since we wanted to be longer in the Philippines than the usual 30 days we get granted at the immigration, we decided to go back to the mainland and see Vietnam and get a another 30 days for a stay for the Philippines. Since we decided to go to Vietnam without a visa we could only stay there for two weeks which made it impossible to see the whole country. So we had to find a way to get out of Vietnam in the center of the country and go to the Visayas in the central Philippines to avoid to have to go through the not too pleasant airport and city of Manila. So we found a way through Hong Kong from which there are direct flights to both Da Nang in central Vietnam and Cebu in the Philippine Visayas.
Our whole trip so far is that:
- Indonesia: Jakarta to Bali
- Malaysia: Langkawi to Kuala Lumpur
- Myanmar: Yangon to Mandalay
- Thailand: Bangkok
- Cambodia: Siem Reap to Phnom Penh
- Philippines: Manila to Manila (Luzon)
- Vietnam: Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang
- China: Hong Kong and Macau
- Philippines: Cebu to Cebu (Visayas)
Ich dokumentiere gerne, was ich auf dieser Reise gemacht habe und wo ich alles war. Dabei hilft mir dieser Blog. Und ich nutze auch eine Reisekarte und mir macht es immer viel Freude zu sehen, wo ich schon überall war.
Der erste Teil der Reise lässt sich einfach nachvollziehen. Wir sind in Indonesien auf Java gestartet und von Bali dann nach Malaysia aufs Festland weitergeflogen. Von dort haben dann mit unserer Myanmar-Rundreise weitergemacht und sind nach Bangkok geflogen, unserer einzigen Station in Thailand. Mit dem Bus sind wir nach Kambodscha gefahren. Von Phnom sind wir dann nach Manila geflogen, um auf Luzon, der größten Insel der Philippinen herumzureisen.
Ab Luzon wird es etwas komplizierter. Deswegen habe ich eine zweite Karte angelegt. Wir haben uns aus zwei Gründen in einer Schleife bewegt: Eigentlich wollten wir direkt von Kambodscha nach Vietnam, haben das aber wegen der dortigen Urlaubszeit verschoben und sind stattdessen von Phnom Penh nach Manila geflogen. Und zum anderen wollten wir länger als die üblichen 30 Tage in den Philippinen bleiben, die man bei der Einreise gewährt bekommt. Daher sind wir von Manila wieder zurück aufs Festland, um dann Vietnam zu bereisen und später erneut 30 Tage für die Philippinen zu bekommen. Da wir ohne Visum in Vietnam eingereist sind, konnten wir dort nur zwei Wochen bleiben, in denen man unmöglich das gesamte Land sehen kann. Also mussten wir eine Möglichkeit suchen, aus Zentralvietnam heraus das Land zu verlassen und auf die Visayas im Zentrum der Philippinen zu gelangen, ohne nochmal das zweifelhafte Vergnügen zu haben, über Manila fliegen zu müssen. Wir haben das mit dem Zwischenstopp in Hong Kong hinbekommen. Von dort aus gibt es Direktflüge nach Da Nang in Zentralvietnam und Cebu in den philippinischen Visayas.
